In 2022, the Russian Federation’s troops faced a significant challenge in maintaining tactical communications security. Intercepted phone calls and compromised military networks gave them away. Ukrainian defenders excelled in classifying, locating, and engaging these targets.
Communication security
Two crucial requirements in the military sector are the safeguarding of highly sensitive information and the uninterrupted flow of communication. Achieving both objectives simultaneously is paramount. Regrettably, the Russians fell short in ensuring covert communication.
Derk Wisman, CEO at MSS Defence, noted, “All too often, there’s a compromise between communication security and the range and performance of the communication network. This is where our solutions like LynqPRO come into play.”
LynqPRO from Otto Communications
LynqPRO devices establish a highly secure ad-hoc network that enables location sharing, messaging, and timing data transmission across units covering several miles, all without the risk of detection.
Each LynqPRO operator acts as a network hub, expanding the network’s coverage with every additional user. These devices relay critical information, including rendezvous points, mission objectives, enemy movement reports, timestamped events, and the positioning of friendly forces and vital resources.
“It’s essentially an all-in-one device, eliminating the need for multiple gadgets,” Wisman emphasized. “Navigation, timing, and communication capabilities are seamlessly integrated into a deployable, user-friendly unit, placing a significant tactical advantage in the operator’s hands.”
LynqPRO is characterized by its mobility, cost-effectiveness, and security. Unlike conventional communication networks that rely on costly and stationary infrastructure, LynqPRO Rapid Programming Kits require minimal battlefield footprint. A single user can easily carry the kit, deploying six or twelve hand-sized devices to team members, swiftly establishing a secure, peer-to-peer field network.
“Reducing our battlefield footprint is essential for ensuring secure tactical communications,” Wisman stressed. “In addition to its low visual profile in the field, LynqPRO operates on a long-range, low-power network, fortified by AES 256-bit encryption, making it virtually impenetrable.”
Deployment kit for multiple LynqPRO
When combined with an additional deployment kit, the LynqPRO network can accommodate up to 24 users, providing a robust stream of secure data points. Operators also have the flexibility to restrict data sharing to select users, preventing allied forces, for instance, from accessing command locations. It stands out as one of the most secure tactical communication platforms, equipped to withstand jamming, maintain radio frequency silence, and ensure encryption.
ATAK compatible situational awareness booster
“LynqPRO devices function as individual networks that build upon one another, significantly enhancing the battlefield’s situational awareness. When integrated with an ATAK network, its mapping capabilities are truly exceptional,” Wisman pointed out. “Its ability to boost situational awareness, especially in the absence of a conventional communication network, is unparalleled.”
