A truck delivers it dismantled; a crane and a small crew bring it into service in 45 minutes and take it down again in 15. It weighs 3,300 kg, measures 3.2 m in diameter, and carries NATO Stock Number 5411-61-017-2890. Doctrine was built around manoeuvre, air superiority and expeditionary operations. Digging in was what you did when the plan had already failed.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine reversed that. Static lines. Sustained artillery fire. Drones over everything. Whether it is still held on day four depends on whether the crew can work, rest and stay dry inside it. Parabella is delivered with three features aimed at that second problem.<\/p>\n<h3>Steel trench floor with folding seats<\/h3>\n<p>The excavated position beneath the shelter is finished with a steel floor sheet with folding seats fixed to it. Seating for the crew without loose furniture, a stable footing in wet ground, and no timber to rot or work loose over a long occupation. Seats fold clear when the full crew is standing to.<\/p>\n<h3>Insulating blanket between the panel layers<\/h3>\n<p>A blanket layer is fitted between the layers of armour panels. The manufacturer specifies it as insulating, sound-absorbing, moisture-resistant and heat-resistant to 2,000 \u00b0C. Three effects that matter in occupation: a workable internal temperature in heat and cold, reduced noise and concussion inside the structure under fire, and control of condensation \u2014 the standing problem with any steel structure that is occupied and heated.<\/p>\n<h3>Camouflaged anti-drone net<\/h3>\n<p>A camouflaged metal net is mounted above the structure at a standoff from the roof. It is intended to stop FPV and drop munitions short of the armour and to break up the outline of the position seen from the air. Overhead netting has become standard practice on static positions in Ukraine; on Parabella it is part of the system rather than something the unit has to improvise on arrival.<\/p>\n<p>Video demonstrations of the blanket and the anti-drone net are available on request.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_5 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_block_module preset--module--divi-text--default\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><h2><strong>Testing and certification<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>According to manufacturer test data, Parabella has been tested against the following threats. Traditionally it is dug and cast in place from reinforced concrete. Parabella is a prefabricated alternative: armour steel panels that are bolted together on site, in 45 minutes, and can be dismantled and moved again.<\/p>\n<h3>How long does it take to install Parabella?<\/h3>\n<p>45 minutes from arrival on site to operational, using a crane and a small crew. Dismantling takes 15 minutes, after which the position can be redeployed at another location. By comparison, a cast reinforced concrete position takes days to weeks, largely because of formwork and curing time.<\/p>\n<h3>Does Parabella protect against FPV drones?<\/h3>\n<p>On two levels. The structure has been tested against drone-delivered munitions according to manufacturer test data, alongside 152 mm high-explosive on direct hit and shaped charges including RPG-7. Above that, a camouflaged metal net is mounted at a standoff from the roof, intended to stop munitions before they reach the armour and to break up the outline of the position from the air.<\/p>\n<h3>What is it like inside during a long occupation?<\/h3>\n<p>The structure takes up to ten armed soldiers. The trench beneath it is finished with a steel floor sheet with folding seats, and an insulating, sound-absorbing and moisture-resistant blanket is fitted between the armour panel layers, which holds the internal temperature and controls condensation. The structure can also be covered with soil for additional overhead protection and a lower signature.<\/p>\n<h3>How many soldiers fit inside Parabella?<\/h3>\n<p>Up to ten armed soldiers. The structure is 3.2 m in diameter, sits on piles above an excavated position, and provides 360\u00b0 observation and fire through hinged armoured hatches.<\/p>\n<h3>What has Parabella been tested against?<\/h3>\n<p>According to manufacturer test data: small arms up to and including 14.5 mm armour-piercing incendiary ammunition, 152 mm high-explosive shells on direct hit, simultaneous detonation of two 120 mm mines, drone-delivered munitions, shaped charges including RPG-7, and fragmentation and blast overpressure. Testing and certification were carried out in Ukraine to Ukrainian standards. The results have not been validated by a European test house. Reports and footage are available on request.<\/p>\n<h3>Is Parabella certified to STANAG 4569?<\/h3>\n<p>Not at present. Parabella is certified to Ukrainian standards and codified to NATO standard, with NATO Stock Number 5411-61-017-2890. Independent testing to STANAG 4569 and EN 1522\/1063 is on the roadmap. If your procurement route requires European validation before contract award, raise it at the enquiry stage.<\/p>\n<h3>Can Parabella be moved and reused?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes. It is a bolted panel structure, dismantled in 15 minutes and rebuilt at the next location. This is the main difference from cast concrete: when the line shifts, a concrete position is a lost investment, whereas Parabella travels with the unit.<\/p>\n<h3>What happens if Parabella is hit?<\/h3>\n<p>Because the structure is built from bolted panels, damage is repaired by replacing the affected panel rather than repairing or writing off the whole structure. A cast concrete position generally requires structural repair or abandonment.<\/p>\n<h3>How is Parabella transported and emplaced?<\/h3>\n<p>It ships dismantled on a truck and is positioned with a crane. Total weight is 3,300 kg. On site it is mounted on piles above an excavated position and can be covered with soil to reduce its signature and add overhead protection.<\/p>\n<h3>Does Parabella have a NATO Stock Number?<\/h3>\n<p>Yes: NSN 5411-61-017-2890. NATO codification means the item can be requisitioned through standard NATO supply channels using that number.<\/p>\n<h3>Who manufactures Parabella and who supplies it in Europe?<\/h3>\n<p>Parabella is manufactured in Ukraine, by a heavy metal fabricator with close to seventy years of experience and the country's first producer of steel shelter structures.
